You might be noticing that the last update was from January of this year and it’s currently (adjusts glasses) December 20th. The truth is, I had actually made some posts since then. Maybe not a lot of posts, and maybe not my best ones, but they were there. Back in late January or early February some life stuff happened and it looked like I was going to be moving sooner than expected. Because I was hosting the website from my home, I made a backup of the site and it’s database to move it to a managed, off-site hosting provider so there wouldn’t be any downtime while I was moving. The short version of the story was that the WordPress software I use to run the website had been hacked into and I believe they managed to also compromise Nginx, the web server that I use, meaning they might have also gotten even deeper into the system. I live-Tweeted the whole ordeal, which you can read here<\/a>. My choices were either try to recover the files and use that to setup a new server, potentially bringing along malware with it, or use my year-old backup to recover the website. Since I’d only be losing two articles, I decided that was the safer and more reasonable option. So now we’re back up and running, and I’ve hopefully secured the server, software, and accounts better this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve picked up a few more games recently that I need to photograph and scan, including a Neo Geo cartridge. In case you’re wondering, no, I don’t own a Neo Geo. It’s a part of retro gaming I’ve intentionally been ignoring for the cost alone, so I don’t think I’ll be getting any content out of that purchase for a long time (unless I have a friend with a Neo Geo I can borrow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other news, it looks like I’ll be moving again thanks to the unstable housing market around here, but the benefit of that is that I’ll hopefully be moving out of this studio apartment into a larger single-bedroom apartment, where I’ll have more room to setup mahjong stuff and take better photos compared to what I have to work with right now. I’m also starting a new job in a few weeks with more stable hours, so I’ll be able to start scheduling my home and, hopefully, finally start making regular updates to the website.
